National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has accepted the resignations of 11 lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to a report, the NA speaker accepted the resignations of Shireen Mazari, Shandana Gulzar, Ali Muhammad Khan, Ijaz Shah, Farrukh Habib, Fazal Mohammad, Shaukat Khan, Akram Cheema, Fakhar Zaman, Shakur Shad and Jameel Ahmed.

The coalition government had decided to accept resignations of some PTI lawmakers during a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), held under the chairmanship of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The NA speaker had started consultation with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ayaz Sadiq in a bid to accept the resignations of PTI lawmakers.

The legislative department of NA had asserted that homework in this regard has been completed while the final decision would be taken by the speaker.

A report had said that the PML-N had urged the coalition partners to accept resignations of eight PTI lawmakers, including former prime minister and PTI Chairperson Imran Khan.

Earlier, the NA speaker had summoned PTI lawmakers for the verification of their resignations but no one had turned up.

All the PTI members had tendered their resignations on April 11 after the ouster of Imran Khan through a successful no-confidence motion.
