Last week, Ahmad Nawaz, in a tweet, had shared the news and wrote: "Immensely proud to have finally assumed my duties as the president of the Oxford Union. In my time as president, I look forward to having world leaders debate the most pressing issues, empowering young people through this platform and upholding freedom of speech!"
On Sunday, President Alvi shared a photo of Nawaz on his Twitter handle and wrote that the biggest hope for Pakistan is the youth, congratulating him on being elected president of the union.
Nawaz acknowledged the tweet and wrote that it's an "incredibly huge honour" to be congratulated by the president of Pakistan.
"I shall continue trying to empower as many young people possible and work towards a more equal world."
On Monday, the prime minister also congratulated Nawaz in a tweet and called his journey "inspiring", one that is "fuelled by determination and sheer will power". “Pakistan is proud of Ahmad.”
