Netizens across India and Pakistan have been left fuming after Indian record label T-Series released a rather unflattering remix of iconic singer Nazia Hasan's 1980 superhit song Aap Jaisa Koi.
"Why. Why. Why. That Aap Jaisa Koi remake is an atrocity… it was unnecessary and the audacity to replace Nazia Hassan’s voice with Zarah Khan MY HEAD IS HOT," one Twitter user commented.
Nazia Hassan must be turning in her grave, Ansuman, another user said. "Some songs are better left untouched! Aap Jaisa Koi by Nazia Hassan + Biddu combo is one of them. The former must be shifting in her grave listening to the recreation by Tanishk Bagchi. Not just content the current phase in Bollywood is in its lowest ebb in terms of music."
Journalist Shonakshi Chakravarty said the remix was "just atrocious". "Agree. The Bollywood remake of THE OG Nazia Hassan’s ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ is just atrocious. Can’t watch it, can’t hear it. WHY can’t Bollywood make its own songs? Why why! #NaziaHassan"
Educationist Taimur Bandey said he "still preferred the original". "I still prefer the original song and voice. #AapJaisaKoi #NaziaHassan"
Twitter user Harinder urged the practice of remixing old songs to be ceased. "You DID not!!! Can we please, for the love of god, STOP fiddling with the classic old songs please?
