At least 20 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israel's latest devastating attack on Gaza's southernmost city of Rafah, Al Jazeera reported citing the Gaza Health Ministry.

According to the ministry, at least 55 more people were injured in the incident. Many of those injured have been taken to a hospital in Kuwait for treatment.

According to Al Jazeera, a hospital in Khan Younis, the main hospital in southern Gaza and the second largest in the entire territory, is operating with just 80% of its staff.

Doctor Mohammed Qandil reported scenes of despair in Nasser Hospital, which is suffering from acute supply shortages, including anesthetics and pain medications.

In addition, the institution is experiencing a serious lack of health staff who are unable to perform their services owing to the fighting.

"We lost approximately 80% of the medical staff, doctors, and nurses who were unable to reach the hospitals." The hospital is unsafe for one thing: "The al-Shifa Hospital scenario and other hospital scenarios were scary and they feel unsafe," he added, alluding to Israel's siege of al-Shifa in Gaza City.

"The displacement wave, the displacement orders, are another reason." Our doctors are in a horrible predicament; they must provide for their families. "The big dream now for many physicians is to have a tent to put his children inside rather than leaving them out in the open," he added.

"If this hospital is closed, and service is off that means that the health system in the south will be, I mean, zero almost," Qandil added.
