Talking to the media persons, the former information minister said that a retired judge receives pension more than his salary as there is no tax on his pension.
Fawad said that when Finance Minister Miftah Ismail sits down and talks about powerful circles, he should also do something about tax-free pension of retired judges.
“Now I would be asked why our government did not take such a step. We did not do it because we were scared,” he said.
He further said that the state of the country’s justice system is such that a colony of judges has been built above the green belt of Islamabad.
He revealed that when the PTI-led government had decided to stop the practice of giving plots to judges, former law minister Farogh Naseem had flatly denied to implement the decision, saying that as a lawyer, he has to appear before the judges on a daily basis.
He said that the helpless people of the country are already paying taxes and the new corporate tax will increase their woes.
