Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) senior leader and Federal Education Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain is facing backlash from people from different segments of life for using abusive language against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan during his speech in the National Assembly.

While addressing the National Assembly session, the PMLN leader resorted to harsh criticism on Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, and expressed derogatory remarks against the couple.

In a bid to justify police action at Imran Khan’s Lahore residence, Zaman Park, he said that PMLN Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz met the same treatment during the tenure of Khan as prime minister of the country. He mocked Imran Khan for saying that Bushra Bibi was alone at Zaman Park when police personnel barged into the residence by thrashing the main gate. "Bushra Bibi is in no way superior to Maryam; if Maryam can bear all that, then Bushra Bibi should also have the patience to face this," he added.

The minister said that Maryam is from a reputed family, whereas Bushra Bibi deceived her former husband and eloped with Imran Khan.

Rana Tanveer said that Imran Khan is the son of a corrupt executive engineer.

He also shared an incident from the past: once, Imran Khan and his father, Ikramullah Khan Niazi, were attending a wedding ceremony when someone asked his father "Is he your son,"? To which, Ikramullah responded, Yes, he is my son, but he is an 'illicit child’, he added.

Rana Tanveer further said that anyone can confirm the authenticity of this incident from Khan’s brothers-in-law, Saeedullah and Hafeezullah.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain was condemned for his choice of words in the National Assembly. Even National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf had to expunge his remarks from the proceedings.
