He issued this statement while addressing the media following a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) called by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The minister stated that the government wanted to 'amicably' resolve the issue pertaining to the long march, which is causing difficulties to citizens in several cities of Punjab for two weeks.
The minister also said that the prime minister Imran will address the nation today (Saturday) about the prevailing security situation, adding that he would apprise the nation of the situation and explain the government's narrative.
Rasheed said that four policemen embraced martyrdom in clashes with TLP workers, and more than 80 sustained injuries, eight of them critically. He added that the government was waiting for the TLP to open the GT Road as per its commitment. The minister added that Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri would likely negotiate with the TLP leadership again.
