In his petition, the former prime minister asked the court to declare the case “illegal” and disciplinary action against him be stopped. He also requested the court to suspend the investigation process till the final decision of the case, besides stopping police from taking any action against him.
Earlier this week, an Islamabad court approved Imran's pre-arrest bail in the case. The court accepted the bail petition against a surety of Rs100,000 till September 1. He also secured protective bail till September 7 in a case registered against him on charges of violating Section 144 in Islamabad on the day of the rally.
“Listen Inspector General (of police), we are not going to let you go, we are going to file a case against you. And madam magistrate you should also get ready, we will take action against you,” Imran had thundered during his speech at the rally.
Now it has emerged that the ex-premier had supposedly mistaken the additional sessions judge for the magistrate and was mentally upset over how Shahbaz Gill had been treated. He has offered to 'take back' his remarks on the basis of being unaware of who Judge Zeba Chaudhry was.
