MQM-P and PSP will be merging on Sunday as the two parties agreed terms during a meeting in Karachi on Friday, reports suggest.
According to the discussion, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will head the alliance, while Mustafa Kamal will be its deputy convener. Anis Kaimkhani will look after the organisational aspects of the party.
The groundwork for the merger between the rival factions was reportedly laid by the establishment.
They said that merger of more factions into the fold is likely in the days to come, as talks expand further.
Earlier, MQM-London rejected any unification efforts aimed at implementing a "minus-Altaf" formula.
The faction, however, refrained from speaking about who was behind the efforts to bring them to one platform.
They asked Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir to play his role in the removal of a 'ban' on the party's activities.
