Earlier, a Financial Times’ report that exposed foreign funding to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) through cricket matches organised under Wootton Cricket Limited – a company owned by Abraaj Group founder Arif Naqvi – said: “Naqvi transferred three instalments directly to the PTI in 2013 adding up to a total of $2.12 million.”
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the state minister said: “According to the Constitution, no political party can take funds from foreign companies or foreigners.”
He said that “PTI Chairperson Imran Khan is ready to talk to those who killed our children with bombs and separatists but not with the politicians for the betterment of the country”.
He further said that the Financial Times’ report “revealed the money laundering of Imran Khan, and black money was provided to the PTI in the name of funding”, adding that Arif Naqvi was the fund manager of the PTI chairperson.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that a delegation, comprising members of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, PPP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, has met Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officials and urged them to issue the verdict in the prohibited funding case against the PTI.
