Punjab Govt's Move To Put Nawaz Sharif's Picture On Kissan Card Challenged In LHC

A citizen has taken the Punjab government to court for putting Nawaz Sharif's picture on the Kissan Card.

Mashkoor Hussain has filed a petition in this regard in the Lahore High Court (LHC), listing the Punjab Chief Minister, the Punjab government, and Nawaz Sharif as respondents.

The petitioner argued that public funds cannot be used for personal promotions; hence, using the image of Nawaz Sharif, who is not currently a public office holder, is illegal.

The LHC was urged to stop the Punjab government from disseminating in Punjab the Kissan Card bearing pictures of the former prime minister and to recover the cost of printing cards with Nawaz Sharif's image from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo.

The LHC was further urged to suspend the issuance and distribution of the Kissan Cards until a final decision in the case.
