The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
The ECP announced its verdict on a petition filed by Shujaat Hussain amid an ongoing conflict with his cousin Parvez Elahi over the party headship.
It is pertinent to mention here that in July 2022, PML-Q's Central Working Committee (CWC) decided to take command of the party from Shujaat’s hands, citing health concerns.
However, Shujaat approached the ECP over the matter and it has announced the verdict in his favor.
The division in PML-Q has emerged over the issue of joining hands with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
