Four soldiers were martyred as terrorists attacked a routine border patrol of Pakistani security forces on the Pak-Iran border, on Saturday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the incident took place in Jalgai sector, district Kech.
"During the attack, unfortunately 4 soldiers including Naik Shair Ahmed, Lance Naik Muhammad Asghar, Sepoy Muhammad Irfan and Sepoy Abdur Rasheed were critically injured and later embraced shahadat," it added.
The ISPR said that necessary contact with the Iranian side is being made for effective action against the terrorists on the Iranian side, and to stop such incidents from occurring in future.
In January, four security personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack in the Panjgur district of Balochistan, which originated from neighbouring Iran.
The terrorists made use of Iranian soil to target a convoy of security forces who were patrolling the border. According to the ISPR, Iranian authorities had been formally requested to "track down the terrorists" on their side of the border.
The fallen soldiers were identified as Lance Naik Fareed Ullah Khan, Lance Naik Abdul Razzaq, Lance Naik Muhammad Younas Khan, and Sepoy Asad Ali.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had said, "We expect Iran will ensure that its soil is not used for cross border attacks." He had also strongly condemned the incident.
During the same month, security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Hoshab area of the province. The media affairs' wing had said that terrorists were suspected in attacks on security forces and civilians, as well as planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the M-8 motorway.
It said that as a result of continuous “intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) of the area, a location of the terrorists was identified”. On the basis of this credible intelligence, an IBO was initiated to clear the identified terrorist hideout.
