Rana Sanaullah Chastises KP CM For Absence At Security Meeting Regarding Terrorism
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said that it was regrettable that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan did not attend a security meeting called by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the fears of resurgence of terrorism in the country.

In a press conference on Thursday, Rana Sanaullah acknowledged that the rise in terrorism was 'alarming' but he assured the country that it would not get out of control.

Emphasizing the need for provincial governments, security agencies, authorities, and provincial governments —especially those of KP and Balochistan—, to effectively tackle the danger of rising militancy, he said that it was time for everyone to take responsibility, while 'putting politics aside'.

He said he regretted the fact the KP CM Mahmood Khan did not attend a security meeting chaired by PM Shehbaz, saying, "They [provincial governments] need to take this matter seriously, and whenever they will need the help of the federal government and its agencies, we will assist them without any delay."

"I believe it is the KP CM’s responsibility to seek the help he needs from the federation and to address these matters," Sanaullah maintained.

The interior minister said that the attack by banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on the police truck in Quetta was 'alarming and condemnable', but said that terrorism would not go 'out of control'. "It is not worrying […] Don’t think that this is going out of control or that some group will become out of reach," he said.

He said that the Afghan government had made a global promise that they would not allow their soil to be used for terrorism, and maintained that if they upheld that promise, it would benefit not just Pakistan but them too.

"Because if the TTP is present there and is carrying out terrorist activities here, their soil is being used [for terrorist activities] contrary to their claims," he said.
