At least six people were killed and 25 others sustained injuries due to heavy rain in Balochistan.
The N-70 highway, which connects the province to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been blocked to traffic, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
The PDMA further informed that a huge number of cars are trapped at Dhana Sar as a result of landslides caused by heavy rainfall in eastern Balochistan's Koh-e-Suleman mountains.
Traffic from Peshawar, Swat, Islamabad, and Pindi has been directed to stop at Dera Ismail Khan, according to the PMD, while the Zhob-DI Khan Road has been closed near Dhana Sar owing to rainfall in Zhob and Sherani.
Meanwhile, the administrations of Zhob and Qilla Saifullah have been instructed to halt traffic movement.
Furthermore, the PMDA stated that teams have been sent to conduct rescue and assistance activities for the trapped visitors.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), various locations throughout the country, including Islamabad, Murree, Guliat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Balakot, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Swat, are expected to receive rain today.
Furthermore, downpours are expected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, KP, and Balochistan's Khuzdar, Awaran, and Lasbela.
The Met Office said earlier this week that moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are infiltrating southern and eastern sections of the country, bringing thundershowers and gusty winds to parts of Sindh and other provinces.
This is not the first time in 2024 that Balochistan has reported heavy rains resulting in fatalities and landslides; in April of this year, the provincial government declared a rain and flood emergency due to continuous heavy rains that battered various districts of Balochistan, killing and injuring several people.
