The Lahore High Court (LHC) has barred law enforcement agencies from arresting PTI President and former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi.
Elahi could not be put under house arrest as per any law, the court declared.
The NAB's decision to arrest Elahi in a corruption case was challenged in court by the former chief minister.
During the hearing, Judge Amjad Rafique ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to release Parvez Elahi.
The court will issue a warrant against the director-general of the accountability agency if Elahi is not produced today, Justice Rafiq warned NAB during the hearing.
Judge Amjad Rafique ordered the law enforcement agencies to produce Elahi before the court within one hour.
During the hearing, the Punjab additional advocate general said that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has informed there is a life threat to Elahi.
On which, the judge remarked, "It means you don’t want to produce Elahi before the court."
LHC Justice Amjad Rafiq announced the verdict after Elahi was brought before the court.
The court adjourned the hearing till September 21.
