Meet The Three-Member Bench Of The ECP That Ruled Against The PTI
A three-member bench comprising Sikander Sultan Raja, Nisar Ahmad Durrani and Shah Mohammad Jatoi of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ruled that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did indeed receive prohibited funding.

The three-member bench was headed by the Chief Election Commissioner Sikander (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja, and included ECP members Nisar Ahmad Durrani and Shah Mohammad Jatoi.

The bench unanimously ruled that the PTI had violated the Constitutional guidelines for political fundraising and had indeed been the recipient of prohibited funding.

The PTI has for some time been calling for the resignation of CEC Sultan Raja, alleging that Raja was biased towards the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). At many political rallies, PTI Chairperson Imran had talked about how Raja was 'incompetent' and 'dishonest'.

At a press conference last month he had said, "We don’t trust the ECP head and he has been imposed on us. We don’t have confidence in you […] you are a biased person in cahoots with a political party."

Not only did the PTI move a reference against Raja in the judicial commission, but they also organized a protest outside the ECP office on Thursday.

It remains to be seen whether the PTI will demand a full-court hearing, much like the PML-N did when the Supreme Court issued its ruling against Hamza Shahbaz.
