The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) elected a new party chairman on Saturday, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who was nominated for the position by Imran Khan.
The results were announced by PTI Chief Election Commissioner Niazullah Niazi, who stated that Barrister Gohar was elected unopposed following the intra-party election held today.
According to Niazi, Umar Ayub Khan has been elected as the PTI's central general secretary, while Ali Amin Gandapur and Dr. Yasmin Rashid have been elected as the party's provincial presidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, respectively.
The decision was made following the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) directives, and the party held intra-party elections today.
These elections are extremely important in the country's current political climate because Imran Khan has decided to hand over the chairmanship to one of his legal advisors, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who will hold the party reins until Khan's release from prison.
