PTI Gets GHQ Clearance To Hold A Rally At Parade Ground
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has received permission from the army's General Headquarters (GHQ) to hold a political rally at Parade ground in Islamabad.

The party was given permission to use the venue of Parade ground by the GHQ for their rally to be held later today (Saturday). Party Chairperson Imran Khan visited the venue late at night to inspect the arrangements.

The NOC was also sent to the chief commissioner of Islamabad, the IGP and deputy IGP Islamabad, senior superintendents of police for traffic and operations and the assistant commissioner of the industrial area.

The twin-cities police have deployed contingents of police around the Red Zone, who have been provided more than 10,000 teargas shells to contain the law and order situation.

The permission is valid only for July 2. The GHQ reiterated that Section 144 had been imposed on the gathering of persons in one km radius of Red Zone, and the organisers must ensure that no participant enters there.

The organizers will be held responsible for both the internal security arrangements as well as ensuring no illegal crossing over into unauthorized territory occurs.

Earlier, the former ruling party had given an undertaking to the district administration of the federal capital and agreed to 39 conditions for holding the rally at Parade ground.

Former minister and PTI Central Secretary General Asad Umar had urged the people to come out of their houses on July 2 to send a strong message that Pakistan is no longer a country where elected governments are being changed by conspiring behind closed doors.

He had urged the people of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to ensure their participation in the Parade Ground rally on July 2. He had said that the people of the twin cities, together with PTI Chairperson Imran Khan, should give a clear and unequivocal message that it is a changed Pakistan.
