The outcome of the meeting between party defectors and imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be apparent shortly, said former PTI Sindh Senior Vice President Mahmood Moulvi.
Following the riots on May 9, Moulvi was one of several party leaders who resigned from their leadership positions with the PTI and their seats in the National Assembly earlier this month.
Following his arrest in a corruption case on May 9 — a day the army dubbed "Black Day"—Imran Khan's party has been feeling the heat of the government's power after his enraged workers attacked military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commanders House and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
While talking to Geo News, Moulvi remarked, "Our meeting with Shah Mehmood Qureshi at the jail was encouraging, and its results would be revealed within two days."
According to sources with direct knowledge of the discussion, Qureshi met with former party bigwigs on Wednesday in Adiala jail to "change" his loyalties.
After the meeting, Fawad stated that "250 million people can't be left at the mercy of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif," meaning that they met with Qureshi for political purposes.
Moulvi said, "No one should withdraw from politics." "The PTI chairman had stated Qureshi will head the party even if he is declared ineligible," he added.
When asked if Khan ought to drop the party's hold prior to being taken into custody, Moulvi responded, "He is assessing everything himself. As I am no longer a party member, I won't say anything more about it."
Despite the fact that over 100 party leaders have split, Khan has remained firm and claimed that whoever receives the PTI's nomination will win elections.
According to him, certain lawmakers aren't ready to stick with the party, and others have already joined others. "In a race, several horses compete; some are even pulled out before the race," he stated.
"You witnessed what transpired in the local body elections in Karachi."
