Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar landed in Banjul, Gambia, on Wednesday to lead Pakistan's delegation to the forthcoming Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit, where he would discuss the concerns of Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
"I have now arrived in Gambia to represent Pakistan at the 15th Summit in addition to holding bilateral meetings with dignitaries from member countries attending the Summit," the deputy prime minister said in a post on X.
When the foreign minister arrived, he was greeted by the Gambian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Nani Juwara, the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, and the Ambassador of Pakistan to Senegal accredited to the Gambia, Saima Maymunah Sayed.
Earlier, in a statement, the Foreign Office stated that the foreign minister will attend the OIC summit on May 4-5 after attending the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting on May 2-3 to finalize the summit program and conclusion papers.
During his tour, the foreign minister will discuss Islamabad's position on the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where Israel has killed about 35,000 Palestinians since October of last year, as well as the IIOJK people's right to self-determination.
Dar will emphasize the need for finding collaborative solutions to crises facing the Muslim Ummah, as well as other subjects like the imperatives of Ummah solidarity and unity, growing Islamophobia, climate change, terrorism, and other worldwide concerns.
In addition, the deputy PM is going to hold bilateral discussions with the event's leaders and foreign ministers.
