Spokesperson for Prime Minister Imran Khan on Trade and Investment Sahibzada Jahangir has said that Jahangir Tareen was conspiring to topple the Pakistan Tehreeek-e-Insaf (PTI) government because the PM had asked him to explain how he made money through sugar mills.
According to Geo, he issued these remarks while addressing an event in the UK that was organised by PTI leader and business tycoon Aneel Musarrat in honour of Punjab Governor Chaudhary Sarwar.
He lumped together Tareen with others thieves and dacoits who “get bails from courts and return to live their normal lives."
He said that when Tareen was asked to explain his assets and the money he made from his sugar mills, instead of giving answers he started planning to topple the government, raising a rebel group of parliamentarians for this purpose.
He added, "Jahangir Khan Tareen was asked to approach the court in his sugar mills case and prove innocence but he didn’t do so. Instead, Jahangir Tareen formed a rebel group of 40 people.”
Taking a jibe at the opposition, he said that London was full of those who had fled the country to escape PM Imran’s accountability drive. He said that those accused of plundering the country get bails from courts and live a life of luxury.
He further said that the government was faced with a lot of challenges but workers and supports should keep faith in the leadership of Imran Khan.
