The Olympic of Denials And Its Champions

The Olympic of Denials And Its Champions
We can refute the Covid-19 and save 220 million people from panicking but just a mere few hours later we claim that the virus is a conspiracy hatched by the Jews. Thank God we had ministers like Zartaj Gul who enlightened us by stating that Covid-19 are 19 points that can apply on any country anytime. Our top cleric Mufti Naeem cursed ‘social distancing’ and preached ‘social mingling.’ Ironically, he could not witness the benefits of his theory, for he was struck down by Covid-19.

We are not interested in waging jihad against illiteracy, ignorance or other social evils.  Our holiest jihad is against those male and female field workers who administer the polio drops and against their armed goons – the policemen.  We have killed hundreds of them and are hell bent on targeting them. And this is a lesson we have learnt this from the polio-hit Mullah Radio (Fazlullah), the one-legged Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader.

These days we are working on a new denial – the return of militancy in Swat, Bajaur, Wana and other tribal areas. On August 8, 2022, members of the Taliban attacked the Chapral Police Station of Tehsil Matta, Swat. A senior police officer Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pir Syed chased them to the Balasar Top. Some army soldiers led by Major Ahsan also reached there.

However, the militants overpowered all of them and seized them hostages. The DSP was seriously injured and needed medical treatment immediately. The local tribal leaders had to hold talks (jirga) with the militants to seek their release.

When the people of Swat protested against the rising militancy, the administration instead of tacking swift action against the militants registered cases of treason against the protesters.

Our state of denial has caused the disintegration of Pakistan. The rulers treated the Bengalis with contempt, denied them their rights and forced them to rise their oppression. The Bengalis got rid of us with the help of India. Our army was surrendering before India and our rulers were telling us that we are winning the war.

We initiated the 1965 War with India through Operation Gibraltar but our school books say that we were sleeping and enjoying sweet dreams when India attacked us. We woke up, fought bravely and forced India to run away. The school books concoct similar stories about the wars in 1971 as well as Kargil in 1999. We never tell our kids that India never attacked us since our creation.

We always attacked India in a bid to liberate Kashmir and suffered a humiliating defeat. We had assumed the responsibility of liberating Kashmir and Palestine but we failed to defend the East Pakistan. Instead of learning any lesson from the fall of Dhaka, we started alienating the Pashtoons, the Balochis and the Sindhis and claimed the creation of Bangladesh as a feather in our cap i.e. the carving of another Muslim country on the world’s map!

We were hatching the Taliban; people of wisdom were saying that we are rearing snakes. They will bite the hand that feeds. But we were told that they are our boys. They will remain loyal and obedient. But the kids soon started killing the army soldiers. They beheaded them and played football with their heads. They killed and hanged the civilians in Swat’s squares. They carried out suicide in every part of Pakistan. They showed the audacity to successfully attack the Generals Headquarters (GHQ), the naval and air bases. To woo them, we had to hold talks and sign peace treaties which they blatantly violated.

When the TTP had gained full control in the tribal areas in the wake of 9/11, we feared that Islamabad is not too far for them. But we were told that the Taliban can never reach Islamabad. The Taliban were already in Islamabad in the form of Maulana Abdul Aziz, the prayer leader of the Red Mosque. When the Red Mosque brigade kidnapped the Chinese, Musharraf had to sanction a military operation against the mosque.

On November 17 2022, in two separate terror incidents in Bajaur and Lakki Marwat, six policemen and two army soldiers were killed.  But we failed to see anything except for PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s so-called long march and the appointment or further extension of the army chief.

History repeats itself but we continue to live in a state of denial.
