PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry recently broke into tears when asked about how his children felt when they found out that he was behind bars, in the sedition case wherein he was recently granted bail.
Fawad, a close aide of former prime minister Imran Khan, was all in tears, when asked about the reaction of his children when they met him when he was locked up.
The party spokesperson could be seen overwhelmed by emotions and couldn't speak for the next several seconds.
At this, programme host, Kashif Abbasi, continued to speak, saying children of an incarcerated individual remain traumatised for some time, seeing their parent in handcuffs, with police, and being picked up.
Once Fawad was able to speak, he seconded the host that his children were told that their father was on an official trip while he was in detention.
On Wednesday (Feb 1), a court in Islamabad approved Fawad's bail in the aforesaid sedition case. He was accused of “threatening” the members of the Election Commission in a press conference.
He was subsequently arrested from his residence in Lahore on Jan 25 after a case was registered against him at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station.
Approving the plea, Additional Sessions Judge Faizan Gillani had said the request had been granted on a conditional basis, saying Fawad should not make such remarks in the future.
The party stalwart was taken into custody after his statement that the governors will be put on trial under Article 6 for their failure to announce a date for the elections as enshrined in the Constitution, and that those at the helm will be given an exemplary punishment and chased to their homes for their doing.
Following the arrest, PTI chairman Imran Khan had launched a fresh tirade against state institutions, including the Election Commission, questioning their impartiality.
Fawad's arrest had invited a strong reaction from the political leaders, who had asked for a stop to the practice of harassment by state institutions.
