Following weeks of unrelenting shelling in northern Gaza and repeated warnings to Palestinians to leave and relocate south, Israel has now expanded its attack in the embattled strip's southern section, according to the BBC, citing Israeli army radio.
According to Reuters, Israel's Chief of General Staff, Herzi Halevi, has stated that his soldiers will equal their previous attack against Hamas in the northern enclave.
"We fought strongly and thoroughly in the northern Gaza Strip, and we are also doing it now in the southern Gaza," he said in a statement.
Since the war's beginning, hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip have devolved into anarchy. According to Al Jazeera, after eight weeks, physicians are fatigued, and fuel stocks are practically depleted due to Israel's siege.
According to the UN, there is not a single facility in the territory's north that can treat patients. The most badly injured are taken to the south regularly in convoys coordinated by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
However, the UN reports that the 12 remaining hospitals are only "partially functional."
Israeli soldiers attacked several residential buildings in Gaza's Jabalia refugee camp on Sunday.
According to Al Jazeera, numerous residences were targeted at the same time, resulting in multiple fatalities and more fear of being trapped under the rubble.
Rescuers are straining to reach the injured since they are also being targeted by Israeli forces, complicating their efforts and delaying their ability to rescue any survivors.
