If the establishment wants to end terrorism, they should set the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) free. It isn't a rogue organisation, but a natural ally in the war against terrorism, says Barrister Awais Babar.
While speaking at programme Khabar Say Aagay, the analyst said the military can eliminate terrorists, not terrorism.
To do so, he added, it can take the organisation along as a valuable ally against the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
"What is the PTM even demanding rather than a safe environment from the terrorists who they say have destroyed lives," he asked.
Babar further said the act to make an ally out of the PTM will eliminate at least one 'enemy' for the army. "With so many existing fronts such as Indian spy agency RAW, TTP, and others, why open another one?"
Speaking on the occasion, Raza Rumi said that the security establishment and civilian leadership need to soften their stance regarding the PTM just like they did for the PTI.
Doing so will resolve a lot of prevailing issues in the country, Rumi maintained.
Flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay streams Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
