Eid Holidays: PM Shehbaz Approves Five-Day Eid Holiday
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a five-day holiday for the Eid-ul-Azha festival that will take place on July 10, as per a statement by the Prime Minister's Office.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister has approved Eid holidays from Friday July 8 to Tuesday July 12.

"The prime minister has seen and is pleased to approve the Eid-ul-Azha holidays from 8th July to 12th July (Friday to Tuesday)," the statement said.

The formal announcement will be made by the Cabinet division.

Previously on June 29, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad had announced the commencement of the month of Zilhaj from July 1, which meant that Eid-ul-Azha would be taking place on July 10.

During the announcement, Azad had urged that a message of unity should be taken forward, following which, he then held prayers for peace and stability in the country.

Meanwhile, also on June 29, Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel had observed that Covid cases in Pakistan had been rising.

He cautioned that the chance for the virus to resurge was high as the Eid-ul-Azha festival was approaching, and called on citizens to recommence the strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing masks and observing social distancing again.
