Protests Shut Down Thatta-Karachi Traffic, As Family Of Nazim Jokhio Accuse MPA From Ruling PPP Of Murder
Traffic between Karachi and Thatta was blocked as locals and family members of a man protested his murder, allegedly for posting a video of a PPP MPA and a foreign visitor hunting the houbara bustard. Nazim Jokhio had made a video as he stopped a car with foreign license number and asked the occupants about their activities in Thatta. These individuals threatened Jokhio and tried to take away his mobile phone.

As the video went viral, Jokhio was found dead at Memon Goth, Malir. The family accuse Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Jam Awais of his murder. According to them, Nazim Jokhio was tortured to death by the MPA.

Allegations have arisen that the foreign visitor at the scene was from a Gulf Arab background. High-profile visitors from the Persian Gulf states are commonly associated with the hunting of the houbara bustard in Sindh.

Police have registered a case against MPA Jam Awais and others. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the murder and called for authorities to ensure that justice is done.

Meanwhile, protesters today blocked the route between Karachi and Thatta using burning tyres. They raised slogans against the police authorities and the PPP-led Sindh government.
