Hareem Shah Says Husband Has Gone 'Missing' in Pakistan

Police in Karachi register FIR for his disappearance as Shah appeals to state institutions to help find her husband

Hareem Shah Says Husband Has Gone 'Missing' in Pakistan

Controversial TikTok star Hareem Shah has claimed that her husband, Bilal Hussain Shah has been 'illegally abducted' by officials from an unidentified branch of government for unknown reasons from Karachi and that he remains untraceable a week after his disappearance.

In a video message posted on her social media accounts, Shah said that she and her husband Bilal are based in London, UK. But last week, Bilal had to travel to Pakistan for some urgent work.

"Bilal (my husband) had some work and had to travel to Pakistan from London. After his evening meal, he stepped out of the house when three to four cars drove up with unidentified people in civil (plain clothes) and abducted him illegally," she said, adding, "We do not know where he was taken."

Shah said that a complaint was filed at the relevant police station and that several state institutions were contacted as well to ascertain his whereabouts or why he had been picked up, but no one had any information to offer.

"In view of this, we have also filed a petition in the court. It's been seven days, but we have been unable to trace his whereabouts," she stated in a matter-of-fact manner.

"He has been illegally picked up and detained. The relevant police station is quiet and is not doing anything (to trace him). A petition is also pending in court," she said.

"I request the courts and other institutions, especially the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to trace his whereabouts."

Shah continued that Bilal is an innocent man who has no links to any illegal or criminal activities, nor does he have a criminal record in Pakistan and that he is not wanted in any case, either in the past or currently.

"An innocent man has been illegally abducted; I appeal to all Pakistanis that his family is very worried and we are going through a very hard time," she said, adding, "We have been quiet for seven days and pursuing things legally."

She alluded that the police seem to be under pressure from an unknown source as they are silent and have been unable to trace the missing man.

"No one has given an explanation why he has been picked up, nor is he wanted in any FIR," she repeated, adding that Bilal is not affiliated with any political party, nor is he at fault for something that became the reason for him to be picked up.

"To illegally arrest someone like that is an affront to Pakistan and its laws," she argued.

"I urge our institutions to trace him, and his family is suffering."

On Monday, an FIR was registered for Bilal's disappearance. SSP SOuth Shiraz Nazir stated that the FIR was registered on the complaint of Bilal's mother.

In her application, Bilal's mother told the police that her son had been abducted from street number six of Qayyumabad on August 27.
