As per social media posts on twitter and instagram, Gilgit has seen an outpour of protests by the local shia community against the Amir Qazi Nisar of Ahlul Sunnah Jamaat's commentary against the Imam Mahdi.
Syed Ali Abbas Zaidi took to twitter to highlight the story: "This mammoth protest took place in Skardu, yesterday. "All is well" - says the caretaker Gov. Yes, no violence has been reported but protests of this size hardly relay confidence in all being well - dear sirs. Public mobilizing in such numbers is an indicator."

Zeeshan Haider, a local, also shared his thoughts on twitter: "In the history of my city, there was no such big protest, so no, most of the people here are self-sufficient and do not need anyone Three days ago in Gilgit city, Amir Qazi Nisar of Ahlul Sunnah Jamaat insulted my last Imam of the last days. This gathering was his response. Lubig or Mahdi A.S."
