27 Die In Terrorist Attacks On Iran Security Personnel

Suspected militants killed at least 11 Iranian security personnel and injured 16 others in strikes on Iran's Revolutionary Guard headquarters in the southeastern region of Sistan-Baluchestan, state media stated on Thursday.

The Jaish al-Adl organization and security forces clashed overnight in the cities of Chabahar and Rask, according to state television.

"The terrorists failed to achieve their goal of seizing the Guards headquarters in Chabahar and Rask," said deputy Interior Minister Majid Mirahmadi on state television.

According to state television, several other security personnel suffered injuries during the clash in the underprivileged region.

The region, which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan, has long been the scene of periodic conflicts between Iranian security forces, terrorists, and drug smugglers.

Iran is a major transit point for drug smuggling from Afghanistan to the West and beyond.

In December, the extremist organization stormed a police station in Rask, killing 11 security personnel.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's ambassador to Iran, Mudassir, denounced the two barbaric terrorist assaults in Iran. He stated that Pakistan had voiced cooperation with Iran in the battle against terrorism.

"Pakistan firmly condemns two horrific terrorist assaults on police and security posts in Rask and Chabahar, which resulted in the martyrdom of heroic Iranian security officials. We fully support our brotherly neighbor Iran in its battle against terrorism and the protection of its interests. Terrorism must be stopped," he tweeted.
