Pervaiz Elahi Rules Out Immediate Dissolution Of Punjab Assembly
Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has ruled out the immediate dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

Elahi made the comments in an interview with a private channel. After son Moonis, Pervaiz too rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan's claims of then COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa having executed a double game.

In the interview, Elahi said Bajwa proved a God-sent who had counselled the PML-Q to side with Khan. He said the former COAS had called him personally and told him so. He said Khan's claim of Bajwa having directed one faction of the party to side with Khan and the other with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as untrue. He also said former PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat had received no phone call from the then top army boss.

Elahi also ruled out immediately dissolving the Punjab Assembly in the interview. He said general elections could not be conducted before the passage of at least four months since both: the federal and provincial governments needed time. He said a delay may be witnessed on this account in October 2023.
