Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Qatar on a two-day official visit to attend the 5th United Nations (UN) Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
The summit, which takes place from March 5 to 9, will discuss ways to hasten sustainable development in LDCs and aid their ascent to prosperity. According to a press statement from the Prime Minister's Office Media Wing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will speak at the conference on March 6.
In a tweet, PM Shehbaz stated that he has arrived in Doha on the invitation of his "brother" Qatar Amir HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani to attend the UN conference.
He said that at the conference, he will share Pakistan's perspective on the socio-economic challenges facing the least developed countries in Asia and Africa.

“These global events have left them vulnerable. LDCs will be better served by putting [the] welfare of people at the center of public policy,” he tweeted.
At a reception held by the Amir of Qatar in honour of leaders of state and government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also be present.
On the sidelines of the conference in Doha, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet and converse in private with participating heads of state and government.
The leaders will decide on a new collaboration between LDCs and their development partners at the summit and mobilise further international action and support for LDCs.
At UN forums, Pakistan has taken the lead in amplifying the collective voice of the Global South to advance sustainable development all around the world.
In 2022, Pakistan actively supported the efforts of the LDC Chair and Qatar to secure the adoption of the Doha Plan of Action for the Least Developed Countries by consensus and its endorsement by the UN General Assembly in its capacity as Chair of the Group of 77 and China.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s attendance at the conference will represent Pakistan's solidarity with and support for the Least Developed Countries in their pursuit of social advancement and economic growth.
Pakistan supported the UN 2030 Development Agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through revitalised international alliances based on practical means of implementation, including South-South Cooperation (SDGs).
