Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) UK activist Shayan Ali has been expelled from his college over hooliganism, bad behaviour and creating public nuisance outside Avenfield apartments, where Nawaz Sharif’s family lives.
Sources at the Albermale Independent College near Park Lane confirmed that Shayan Ali was expelled over bad behaviour and social nuisance, incidents of hooliganism, use of abusive language, and causing distress to local residents by regularly staging protests outside Avenfield flats on Dunraven Street, where former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif is staying with his sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
Shayan Ali confirmed that he is no longer enrolled at Albermale Independent College. The PTI protestor claimed that he "refused to listen" to the demands of Albermale Independent College and decided to leave the college, but sources at the college confirmed that Shayan Ali was in fact expelled for failing to comply with the college's rules and for failing to follow its disciplinary code.
Shayan Ali, who is 17 years old and has become famous on social media for his protests at the Avenfield flats, took admission Albermale Independent College last year. This college is situated on Dunraven Street where Avenfield House is located; it is opposite to the flats, but doesn’t have any signboard.
After getting admission, Shayan Ali started doing protests daily during morning, lunch and evening time, and also involved 4-5 other students with him. A college source said that at first complaints were made about noisy and unruly behaviour by the local residents, who saw Shayan Ali and a group disappearing inside the building with him after shouting slogans against the Sharif family.
Shayan Ali blamed PMLN activists Khurram Butt, Rashid Nasrullah, Rashid Hashmi, Iran Butt and others for getting him removed from the college. He said that Nawaz Sharif’s personal secretary had also made a complaint to the college over his conduct.
Khurram Butt said in a statement that Shayan Ali was expelled by the college after the college was given evidence of his rowdy behaviour and his consistent nuisance on Dunraven Street.

“We made a complaint to the Albermale Independent College on 9 November 2022. We gave video evidence of Shayan Ali to the college and told them how he was using the premises of the college for his anti-social activities. The college administration saw the evidence and were shocked how their premises was being used by Shayan Ali and three others for their agenda. The college took action against him and accepted that his behaviour was unacceptable.”
Rashid Nasrullah said in a tweet that local residents had also complained to the college, because Shayan Ali was using the college building for shelter and creating public nuisance by using filthy language and abusive slogans.
In a video statement, Shayan Ali said the college had asked him not to use his social media accounts and stop protesting against the Sharif family residence but “I rejected the demands made by the college and I am no more part of the college. Nothing can stop me from my work. I will continue to protest against Nawaz Sharif.”
