Punjab Governor Asks COAS Bajwa To Provide Him With Soldiers For Hamza Shahbaz's Arrest
On Thursday, Punjab Governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema said that if the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa provided him with just one subedar and four soldiers, he himself will arrest Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.

In a series of tweets posted early in the day today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) affiliated Omar Sarfaraz Cheema called Hamza Shahbaz an 'unconstitutional' and 'counterfeit' chief minister, and vowed to put him in jail if given the aforementioned five soldiers.

He went on to say Punjab had been the victim of a constitutional and legal crisis, and had been taken hostage by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) coalition by force. He said that the silence of the other parties was concerning.

He added that if the Hamza Shahbaz 'formula' for becoming chief minister is acceptable, then the other provinces should all be worried.

He went on to say that in his 22 years of politics, he has played a neutral umpire, adding that the neutral umpire applies to both teams, otherwise it would be neither neutral nor fair.

Cheema again stressed that he had clarified and clearly stated the kind of intervention he was hoping for, adding that if he had not been the governor, he would have appealed to the public. He reiterated his request for one subedar and 4 soldiers, mentioning that governments in the past had also made use of 111 brigade.

He also announced that he had sent a reference against theLahore High Court's (LHC) Justice Jawad Hassan to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), on the grounds of what he viewed as an 'illegal decision' to appoint the Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to administer CM Hamza Shahbaz's oath.

Previously, Cheema had tried to delay the CM-elect's oath twice, urging Hamza Shahbaz to appeal to the LHC to intervene.
