Zaka Ashraf's term as the chief of the PCB Management Committee was extended by the federal government on Saturday for an additional three months.
The management committee is only authorized to carry out the primary mission of finalizing the board of governance (BoG) and conducting the PCB chairman election as soon as possible, according to a notification released by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
Furthermore, according to the announcement, the management committee "shall not make any policy decisions or high-level appointments" and would only handle day-to-day operations for PCB.
It further said, "Extensions beyond three months shall not be granted to the Management Committee."
The Zaka Ashraf-led PCB Management Committee was established in July 2023 with a four-month term in mind. However, Anwaar-ul-Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, has extended it by three months by using his prerogative.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ashraf took over Najam Sethi's position as PCB chief earlier this year, in July.
This comes as the currently serving chairman of the PCB is almost done with his tenure and is being accused by a member of his own management committee of egregious wrongdoings and unlawful choices.
In an email written to Ashraf and the management committee, management committee member Zulfiqar Malik made these claims, according to ESPNcricinfo.
