Scores of football enthusiasts on Friday blamed the District Football Association for the sport's downfall in Gwadar.
'The DFA is politicised and unqualified people are leading it,' concurred many present at the Mir Ghaus Baksh Bizenjo Football Stadium. The jirga proceedings had commenced in the presence of veteran football players. The jirga decided to dissolve the DFA on the occasion.
Veteran footballer Allah Bakhsh Gabol fondly reminisced about days bygone. He said he had devoted much energy to proving himself as a worthy opponent to both: national and international talent. Gabol blamed "unprofessional" DFA functionaries for destroying the sport.
Gabol Ghafoor Meher, another veteran footballer, blamed the DFA too. He, however, also blamed poor level of competition too. He said only professional sporting academies could secure the sport's future in Gwadar.
