The All Parties Conference (APC) scheduled to take place in Islamabad on February 7 to hold a discussion with all stakeholders to curb the menace of terrorism has been postponed and now it will be on February 9 (Thursday).
Sources said that federal minister Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is establishing contacts with all political parties to ensure their presence in the APC.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also been officially invited to attend the APC. It is not yet decided whether the APC will be held in Prime Minister’s House or Parliament House.
Policy to tackle terrorism will be formulated during the APC, sources added.
On February 3, 2023, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited his political rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to an all-parties conference (APC) aimed at resolving the economic and political crisis being faced by the country.
According to the statement issued by Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, the premier is making efforts to bring chiefs of all political parties to the table for joint discussions and find solutions to address national challenges.
She further revealed that federal minister Ayaz Sadiq has initiated approaching top PTI leaders including Asad Qaiser and Pervez Khattak to ensure their participation in the upcoming summit.
However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Asad Umer had said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan will not attend the federal government’s All Parties Conference (APC) scheduled to be held in Islamabad.
While talking to journalists outside the Lahore High Court, he said that Khan will not attend the APC. “Our leaders are being detained, how can we sit with the government,” he questioned.
He further said that it is expected that elections in Punjab likely to be conducted in the second week of April and directed the PTI contestants to gain momentum.
