Balochistan's new governor, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, took the oath of office on Monday during a ceremony held at the Governor House.
The oath was administered to the newly appointed province governor by Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court.
Sarfraz Bugti, the province chief minister, and Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, the departing governor of Balochistan, attended the oath-taking ceremony.
In addition, Mandokhail's swearing-in ceremony was attended by provincial ministers, assembly members, politicians, and other authorities.
As the 24th governor of the province in the southwest, the politician from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has assumed office.
Upon assuming the esteemed position, the governor made a commitment to serve as an intermediary between the province and the federation.
"The province's issues and challenges will be discussed with the federal government." Speaking to reporters after the oath-taking ceremony, he stated that there is room for improvement in the province's governance.
In response to a question concerning a potential Gwadar fence, Governor Mandokhail stated that he was not aware of any such developments.
"I have no idea about fencing in Gwadar. It's a good thing if it's being implemented for security reasons, he stated.
"I will play the role of a bridge between the province and the center," he added.
On December 26, 1956, Mandokhail was born in Quetta. He completed his matriculation at St. Francis Grammar School and his masters at Balochistan University.
In 1974, he became involved in politics through student politics and held the position of President of MSF.
He contested for the Zhob seat for the PML-N in the 2024 elections, but a Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate defeated him.
