Syed Jamal Shah, through his counsel Imaan Mazari-Hazir, has made a representation before the Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Managing Director PTV, challenging the misuse of PTV broadcasts by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on taxpayer's expense.
The representation argues that since the country is faced with a Constitutional crisis, PTV, as the national broadcaster, cannot endorse the political agenda of the PTI or promote its election campaign / politics.
Specific broadcasts have been cited in the representation, reminding the PTV of its duty to maintain apolitical public service that is efficient and effective in serving the Government, the Parliament and the public. The representation contends that PTV cannot operate as a media wing or promoter of any particular political party.
