Dinner at Pakistan House, London (circa 1960)
The photo shows a dinner party, circa 1960, at the former Pakistan House in North London, a priceless and historic property subsequently and sadly disposed of.

President Gen Ayub Khan sits at the head of the table; to his right are Mrs Shoaib, wife of the Finance Minister, Prince Karim Aga Khan, and Mrs Sajjad Hyder, wife of the Deputy High Commissioner. The dinner was hosted by High Commissioner and Begum M Yousuf (not shown). To the chief guest's left are Gen M Raza, later our Ambassador to China, and senior members of the British Foreign Office.

Gen Ayub Khan was on a State Visit to the UK, following which Queen Elizabeth II accepted his invitation and herself visited Pakistan, accompanied by Prince Philip, in 1961. Both visits were hugely publicised and termed highly successful.
