Internal rifts have started emerging inside the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) top leadership as PTI Chairman Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi are no longer on speaking terms with each other after Khan snubbed Alvi over his failure to arrange his meeting with the newly appointed Army Chief General Asim Munir, journalist Siddique Sajid said on his YouTube channel.
Journalist Siddique Sajid said that the conflict erupted when President Alvi approached Imran Khan to give him the message that he should stand with the state in reviving the economy and talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), upon which the former premier became infuriated and humiliated him. While degrading President Alvi, Khan said, "You failed to arrange my meeting with the one whose message you are delivering to me."
President Alvi replied that they were not meeting anyone. Imran Khan then asked him to arrange a telephone conversation with the army chief. However, requests for telephone conversations were also turned down.
After the non-fulfillment of his wish, Imran Khan’s narrative became firmer: a powerful segment of society is behind their ouster.
Journalist Siddique Sajid said that the PTI chief announced "jail bharo tehreek," but he is such a coward that he is hiding at his Zaman Park residence, whereas his party workers, including women and children, are suffering outside his residence in harsh weather to avert his arrest.
The most recent reflection of this, he added, was the KP Governor’s statement saying he cannot give a date for the polls to the legislature as “that would be given by the intelligence agencies and the establishment.”
Imran also urged the presidency to take notice of the abductions, custodial torture, and threats being meted out to PTI workers and leaders.
He also referred to the resolution passed by the party in this regard, which pointed to the “growing interference’ by intelligence agencies and other sections of establishment in the political sphere.”
