The PTI-led provincial government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province is reported to have extended significant protocol to Bushra Bibi on her arrival in Peshawar. The former first lady is reported to have stayed in the Chief Minister’s House amidst disputed versions on whether or not staff were prohibited from entering during this time, so as to ensure the requirements of women’s seclusion (purdah). The KP government denies reports of staff at CM House having been prevented from entering.
These reports come as former Prime Minister is already facing criticism over reports of KP government resources being used to provide for his extended stay in the provincial capital as he planned and executed his protest movement against the new federal government. These allegations include his use of a helicopter for travel during this time.
Last week, the ruling PML-N’s spokesperson Ata Tarrar had taken aim at Khan’s alleged use of provincial government resources. “Millions are spent over there on his security,” he had claimed.
