A postmortem examination for the body of Nazim Jokhio, conducted at the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), has revealed marks of severe torture. Jokhio was allegedly murdered at a Malir farmhouse on the 2nd of November for posting a video of PPP MPA Jam Awais and a foreign visitor hunting the houbara bustard in Thatta, Sindh.
Additional Police Surgeon at JPMC Dr Summaiya Syed said that there were “bruises all over the body, including the head.” Furthermore, Jokhio’s head had undergone internal bleeding due to severe torture. The slain Jokhio had been beaten by hard and blunt objects. The doctor added that there were indications of a severe beating on the private parts of the victim.
The victim’s face and eyes suffered bruises, and there were “multiple abrasions, reddish in colour, seen all over the face." Furthermore, the postmortem examination indicates bruising on the back, hands and chest, as well as "diffused and linear bruising as well as abrasions of various sizes" on the back.
Investigators have recovered three sticks from the crime scene in Malir.
Nazim Jokhio had made a video as he stopped a car with foreign license number and asked the occupants about their activities in Thatta. These individuals threatened Jokhio and tried to take away his mobile phone. As the video went viral, Jokhio was found dead at Memon Goth, Malir. The family accuse PPP MPA Jam Awais of his murder. Allegations have arisen that the foreign visitor at the scene was from a Gulf Arab background.
Police have registered a case against MPA Jam Awais and others.
