Pakistani showbiz industry's biggest award show concluded in Karachi the other night with breakout star Yumna Zaidi sweeping another host of honours.
In music, Ali Sethi brushed off controversy with his global hit to take home the prize for top musical artists. While in the film category, Sarmad Khoosat finally got the right kind of recognition for his talents.
The awards drew the creme de la creme of Pakistan's fashion and entertainment industries, from makeup artists to models, photographers to actors, musicians and everyone in between.
The red carpet was lit up, with the stars seemingly descending to Earth on a moon-less night.
A host of celebrities were spotted on the red carpet, including the likes of hosts Saba Qamar and Fahad Mustafa, Sarwat Gilani, Sarmad Khoosat and the team of the movie Joyland, Sanam Saeed, fashion designer Ali Xeeshan, actor Mohib Mirza, singer Shae Gill, Farhan Saeed and his wife Urwa Hocane, singer Aima Baig, actor and director Yasir Hussain, filmmaker Nadeem Baig, Ali Zafar, Faisal Kapadia, among others.
Film star Reema Khan picked up the "Youngest Lifetime Achievement Award". Veteran television actor Marina Khan, though, received the "Changemakers Award".
Maha Tahirani picked up the award for "Model of the Year" in the fashion category. Hussain Rehar was recognised as the "Fashion Forward Brand of the Year".
There was an award for Meesha Shafi as the Most Stylish Musician of the Year.
In the film category, Sarmad Khoosat's Kamli picked up three awards, including the big one for "Film of the Year", apart from awarding Saba Qamar as "Best Film Actor (Female)" and another for Khoosat as the "Best Director".
Feroze Khan picked up the "Best Actor Award (Male)" for Tich Button.
The obscure Quaid-E-Azam Zindabad was handed the title of "Best Film of the Year" in the critic's category.
In Music, Ali Sethi picked up two awards, one as the "Singer of the Year" and the other for his global smash hit Pasoori for "Most Streamed Song of the Year".
Baloch singer Kaifi Khalil, however, beat Sethi to the "Best Song of the Year" award with a win for Kahani Suno.
In television, which still seems to rule the entertainment industry in Pakistan, Zaidi picked up both the "Best Actor" and the "Best Actor-Female" awards for her role in Bakhtawar. The former category was the viewer's choice, while the latter was the critic's choice. This is the fourth year running that Zaidi has bagged a top award at the show.
Sinf-e-Aahan directed by veteran film actor and director Nadeem Baig, was recognised as the "Best Ensemble Play" in the critic's choice. At the same time Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi won the viewer's choice "Best TV Play" award. Betiyaan was awarded as the "Best TV Long Serial".
