Referring to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s comments on singing at the wedding ceremony of their son Junaid Safdar’s wedding, Capt. Safdar Awan promised the reporters that he would dance on the occasion to the party's political song Vote Ko Izzat Do (Respect the Vote).
Captain (retd.) Safdar accepted that he used to sing at wedding ceremonies and Desan Da Raja was traditionally sung during wedding ceremonies in the past. He also clarified that only close relatives have been invited to the wedding ceremony and only one dish will be served to the guests.
Maryam Nawaz's videos showing her singing the iconic Bollywood song Chura Liya Hai Tum Ne Jo Dill Ko at an event on her son Junaid Safdar’s wedding went viral on social media on Monday.
Commenting on Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry’s remarks about the family “using the nation’s money” for Junaid Safdar's wedding festivities, Safdar asked the commentators not to politicize his son’s wedding.
Reacting to her viral video of singing at Junaid’s wedding, Maryam Nawaz said that being a mother she sang the song to celebrate her son’s wedding at a private gathering. "My son’s wedding is a private, family affair", she said.
