While UK publication The Daily Mail may have apologised to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over its 2019 story against the Sharifs, the controversy isn’t, by any means, over.
This is evident from the government’s fresh reaction on the occurrence. According to senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan himself was running away from accountability.
Addressing a presser today on November 9 in Islamabad, he said, “Shehbaz Sharif has emerged clean, having earlier been cleared of any wrongdoing by the UK’s National Crime Agency.”
“On the other hand, the murshad and mureeds will face the music and be answerable as per law,” he added.

Also, earlier today, the PML-N said that the conspiracy by the “watch thief” had been foiled, following the aforesaid apology.

The British newspaper had served an apology for accusing the Sharifs in 2019 of misappropriating UK aid money.
In a note published under Clarifications and Corrections, the daily accepted that “Mr Sharif has never been accused by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of any wrongdoing in relation to British public money or DFID grant aid.”
The paper, the daily said, was “pleased to make this clear and apologise to Mr Sharif for this error.”
