Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan is negotiating with the governing coalition.
The party is in touch with finance minister Ishaq Dar, a prominent Pakistan Muslim League -- Nawaz (PML-N) member.
Several leaders of the former ruling party have confirmed the talks. Dar also recently met President Arif Alvi in what was reported as a conducive environment.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has offered to set up a meeting between Chairman PTI Imran Khan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif too.
What compelled Imran to come to the table of dialogue is a different story in itself. Analyst Raza Rumi said it was due to the fact that he was left with no other option.
The PTI supremo, Rumi told DW, wasn’t able to make favorable changes in the establishment or have a date set for the snap polls.
“Imran Khan exhausted his cards too soon,” he maintained.
