Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed lost both National Assembly seats in Rawalpindi to independent candidates affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), his nephew Rashid Shafeeq confirmed on Friday.
Rashid, according to Shafeeq, acknowledged the loss in Rawalpindi's NA-56 and NA-57. He congratulated the victors, Seembia Tahir and Shehryar Riaz. "We are saddened by our defeat but are happy at the same time that the PML-N also lost the election on these seats," he added.
