During the hearing of the case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Jawad Abbas expressed displeasure over his repeated absence from court hearings and remarked, "Should the judge go to the house and grant bail to the accused?"
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Jawad Abbas was hearing the case registered against Imran Khan at the Sangjani police station.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan's lawyer, Naeem Panjotha, informed the court that his client was ready to appear before the court but that his life was in danger, claiming that attempts were being made to assassinate PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
During the hearing, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Jawad Abbas inquired, "Where is Imran Khan's lawyer, Salman Safdar? He was informed that lawyer Salman is in Lahore. Upon this, the anti-terrorism court judge again inquired whether lawyer Salman Safdar also has security threats.
The Anti-Terrorism Court judge remarked that the judge should now go to the house and give bail to the accused.
The government lawyer said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan's life is in danger, but he also wants to lead the rally. It would be better if Imran Khan appeared before the court rather than leading the rally, he added. The lawyer urged the court to dismiss PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s plea seeking immunity from his appearance before the court.
After the prosecution lawyer concluded his arguments, the Anti-Terrorism Court remarked that even if the court rejects the bail, you do not arrest Imran Khan. The judge further remarked, "Don't the other accused get a chance? Imran Khan will also get a chance."
The District and Sessions Court Islamabad has granted PTI Chairman Imran Khan a one-day exemption from appearance in the case regarding threatening a female judge. The hearing of the case will be held on March 13.
